They are a lot different from the rest of the game, because you always have to be at your best and make sure you know what the role of your character in the party is in order to successfully complete the dungeon. That's why it's important to know when to go into dungeons, what the boss strategies are and many other things. Let's take a look at a few things you should note before going into a dungeon in Rift.
1. Make sure your have the required level
There are currently 10 dungeons in Rift you can go in to while leveling up, and every one has a different level requirement. The first dungeons you will come across are Realm of the Fae if you're playing the guardian faction, or Iron Tombs if you're playing the defiant faction. Both of these instances have a minimum level requirement of 17 and you should not enter them earlier. If you do you you might cause all sorts of problems for your party: monsters will have a higher aggro radius where they attack you, you may not be dealing enough damage or healing, plus you might not even have all quests which you can finish here. It's especially important not to go early in these dungeons if you're a healer or a tank, as you will have trouble keeping your group members alive. I would recommend at least level 20 before you head into these two dungeons.
2. Take all the quests
It's very important that you know where all the quests for the dungeon you're going to are found. For every dungeon you will receive an automatic quest once you enter the instance, as well as one or more quests at the dungeon entrance. Sometimes you will also gain new quests inside the dungeon so make sure you take them. However, at times you will have to visit your faction's capital city in order to get a quest for certain dungeons and it would be a shame not to take them because they award very good item rewards, platinum, as well as a ton of additional experience.
3. Read all boss strategies
This is the most important part in my opinion. Before heading into a dungeon make sure you know exactly what to expect. You can easily find decent, useful boss strategies on various Rift fansites so make sure you read them. Some of these bosses are impossible to kill if you don't know the right strategy so familiarizing yourself with the right combat tactics and phases of every boss in a dungeon is extremely important. Sometimes your party members will tell you what to do, but it's much better to know the strategies yourself, as every party member may have a different role and what you may have to do as a Mage damage dealer may not be the same as a Rogue damage dealer.
By doing the necessary research about dungeons in Rift and following the top three points I mentioned above you will surely be able to complete the instance quickly and without anyone dying. Make sure you find the right group and you will enjoy them a lot as dungeons are a great change of pace from the typical quests and rifts. As a bonus, you will get amazing loot and experience.
